Hello patrons and friends, we are back with Mundane Fantasy Issue 02! After a successful launch and release of Issue 01 thanks to our generous donors and subscribers, we are ready to bring you more incredible comix! Sound enticing? Check out our subscription tiers!
Subscription Levels
- Level 1: A donation of $12 will guarantee you a copy of Issue 02, sticker, and thank you note in the mail.
- Level 2: A donation of $24 will guarantee you a copy of Issue 02, sticker, and a keychain.
- Level 3: A donation of $30 will guarantee you a copy of Issue 02, a 5X7 art print, and stickers!
- Level 4: Want to subscribe to Mundane Fantasy for 2022? Donate $60 or more and receive both Issue 02 and 03, a 5x7 riso print, stickers and special surprises!

About Us: We've gone by many names over the past 5 years, starting off as Thick As Thieves, then Hair Flip Comix, but after a long hiatus, we are now Mundane Fantasy Comix! Mundane Fantasy is a Seattle-based biannual publication that features narrative, poetry and art comix. Bored of the PNW boys club comix scene, we prioritize BIPOC and women artists to highlight important and valuable perspectives as well as celebrate the creativity of our community. We offer artist features, limited edition prints, and short-run merchandise featuring both emerging and established local artists. Mundane Fantasy is a risograph zine printed locally by ANEMONE . Straying from the traditional newspaper format, we seek to create something lasting that can withstand everyday wear-and-tear, and live among other zines on a bookshelf or coffee table.
About Mundane Fantasy Issue 02:
Theme: Our theme for issue 2 is PORTALS! We will make an announcement debuting our roster in issue 02 in October!
Zine Details: Issue 02 will be a 32-page, staple-bound 5.5'' x 8.5'' booklet with a cardstock cover. The inside pages will be printed in a single color, and the cover will be two-color. Riso colors TBA!
Artist Compensation: We've based our model on paying all of our artists for their work in each issue we release. Cover artists are paid $30 per cover and interior artists are paid $25 per page.
Why We Need Your Help: After fully funding Issue 01 through subscriptions, we've learned that self-publishing through community support is possible!!! In order to continue to bring you top quality comix from incredible artists, we need your help to fully fund Issue 02!
Breakdown of Project Costs:
- Artist compensation $810
- Printing costs: $550 (limited run of 100 copies)
- Shipping, materials & labor: $250
- 20 copies gifted to featured comix artists ($200 value)
- Web transaction fees
- Total: $1850
If you help us surpass the goal of this fundraiser, additional funds will go towards printing Issue 03 of Mundane Fantasy in summer of 2022, making new merch, and paying artists extra!
