- Hi, my name is Melissa and I am raising funds for my mom. She has a massive kidney stone she has been fighting for years! She suddenly became very sick and was rushed to the hospital. She had gone septic. She had a stint put in to remove the obstruction and begin the detox process. Ultimately she needs surgery to have the stone removed. With no health insurance the surgeon won’t do the surgery without some payment upfront and a credit card on file for a payment plan. Not to mention she will need IV antibiotics when she is discharged from the hospital for 3 weeks before she can even have the surgery she needs. The cost of that alone is $2400.00. None of this includes the overall hospital bill from being here for 5 days! Long story short, she only makes about $150 per month as a live in nanny for my brother who covers all of her living costs. He is a disabled veteran and just finished training, driving long distance for a trucking company. Between my brother and myself we can only come up with a few hundred dollars on such short notice. I am type 1 diabetic and really struggled without insurance for a long time and my mom started a GoFundMe for me to be able to get the medical supplies I needed, so it’s the least I can do to return the favor. I’m a hard worker and I really have to humble myself to create this. But for my mom of course I will do whatever I can to help.
