Help mum to gain the freedom she deserves
Donation protected
Hi, I am Adam. You may know me and some of my story, but this isn’t about me.
This is about my incredible mum who deserves the world.
Mum has Lupus, Addisons Disease, and several other complex, progressive, life-limiting health conditions. She has had more surgeries than I have had birthdays, and somehow she keeps going, trying to live her life and always puts others first.
I cannot overstate how incredible this person is. Throughout everything she’s been through, her only focus has ever been on my dad, my brother, me, and her friends & close family. Putting everyone but herself first, and she’s my inspiration - as well as my rock.
Me and mum are so close, it’s like we’re the same person in different bodies. She’s been there for me throughout everything. She’s never backed away, and never stopped being an incredible, loving, unconditionally supportive parent. Her and my dad are the best and I wouldn’t be here without them.
I just wish she could see how incredible she really is.
Recently she was able to buy a new wheelchair - one that fits her body perfectly and finally gives her the ability to go out and enjoy things more.
This chair is a self-propelled chair, however with her health issues she can only self-propel a short distance on flat, even ground.
Anything more and she needs someone to push her, which is - of course - incredibly restrictive and limiting.
She’s also mostly unable to drive, even short distances, so things like coming to see me at my home if she’s worried, or just getting away from the house for 30 minutes, isn’t possible on her own.
Which brings me to the reason I’ve set this up.
I hate asking, and wish I was still working so I could buy it for her, but something that would revolutionise how she is able to manage and to do what she loves is a motorist attachment for her wheelchair.
The one she needs is one that’s able to get her up and down the hilly, uneven pavements of our beautiful hometown in the Lake District, with enough range to get her to my home and back too.
I would so much appreciate any kind help you’re able to give. It will all go towards a mum who deserves so much more than I can ever give her, and seeing her happy, free, and able to do more would make my life worth it.
Thank you so much.
