On June 8th, in the midnight hours, our family was awakened to their house engulfed in flames. Sadly, their home was completely consumed by this devastating fire. Thanks to our brother, with only minutes to spare, woke up and jumped from his bed to alert the others throughout the house by climbing to the second story balcony, where he had to break the bedroom windows and doors open so they could hear him yelling “GET OUT, THE HOUSE IS ON FIRE!” He then, urgently ran to find ladders so our parents and aunt could escape from the second story. They describe the frantic moment by saying they were "forced" to scale down the ladder as the heat of the approaching fire began to intensify on their backs. They go on to say, "there was no time, but to escape." Thankfully, everyone was able to escape safely (with minor smoke inhalation and our brother with minor burns and cuts on his hands and feet), but sadly the three family pets did perish (two dogs, Neville and Bob and their cat Luna). In the aftermath of the fire, all of their belongings and personal possessions were destroyed.
As a family, we are raising money on their behalf to help fund the purchase of clothing, shoes, furniture, bedding, linens, kitchenware, etc.. This was a multi-family home where our parents (age mid-60’s), Grandmother (age 83), Nephew (age 20), and Brother (age 43) all resided on the property.
In this uncertain time, we know many people are facing hardships and we are extremely grateful for any donation. Thank you!
