Multi-drug resistant Mycobacterium...Please help save Rusty

This is beautiful, lovely, and now, after weeks of daily painful injections and hidden tablets, highly suspicious Rusty. I am one of a whole team of vets based all around the country (including general practitioners, surgical residents, specialists and internal medics) committed to trying to save this boy. He is a loving Cavoodle, his owner's world, her everything, and he is suffering from the most resistant Mycobacterium abscessus infection that our veterinary team have ever seen. He has had multiple surgeries, months of various medications (including now having a new intravenous catheter placed every 4 days so his owner can administer daily medications at home) and wound dressings to try and resolve this, but to no avail. New lesions are still appearing. Sensitivity testing shows only susceptibility to Amikacin, an expensive injectable drug which risks putting Rusty into kidney failure and making him permanently deaf, a risk he has had to take but that is still not fixing him. His only current hope at beating this infection is to embark on a journey with some new and even more expensive drug combinations, including Tigecycline, rarely used in the human or animal world and which costs thousands of dollars per 2 week course! His loving owner is a pensioner, and as much as she would love to spend every cent to save her beloved companion, the bills are adding up and taking their toll. We have come so far, but the next treatment options are becoming cost prohibitive, so I wanted to see if we could raise some funds to help out and make continued treatment possible. 100% of funds raised will go to Rusty's owner to put towards his ongoing medication costs.
