Mukash Family
Donation protected
Our family is from a small fly-in only community in northern Quebec, which is called Whapmagoostui. Our small clinic is our only choice for accessing local healthcare. Our community members are sent by plane to the nearest hospital that can provide the care that is needed.
In January 2024, our grandfather Matthew Mukash was diagnosed with an aggressive and advanced stage cancer. With the help of his family and community services, he was able to start attending treatment away from his home community, over 1100 km away.
The first of his treatments is 9 weeks long. Our community support places us in a hotel in downtown Montreal for the duration of the treatments.
His granddaughter Jade, who is also his caregiver, decided to relocate to Montreal, so that Matthew and his family could have a comfortable home to stay in for the long treatment periods. This way, we can ensure that Matthew can feel safe and comfortable with a more cultural approach added to his medical healthcare.
Jade has secured an apartment in Montreal, and is in the process of making the apartment a comfortable space for her grandfather.
We are creating this fundraiser in hopes that our family can get support in this life changing event. We thank you all in advance for your donation!
