Help for my Mom’s Dementia treatment

Hi I’m Dustin Atik and I am raising money for my Mother, Rebekah Atik, who has developed a more uncommon aggressive, life-threatening form of Dementia. Lewy Body Dementia. This disease progresses very very quickly; limiting both mental and physical function. She was diagnosed around October 2023. Anyone who knows my Mom knows that she’s the sweetest most gentle and caring person. She has loved me with everything she could give and never expected anything in return. I owe my Mom the world for the person I am today and I love her more than anyone could know.

Operation - Save Mom

There is a new drug called TB006 and no official name as I currently know.

“TB006 is an experimental drug that is being evaluated as a treatment for Alzheimer's disease. It is a humanized monoclonal antibody that targets galectin-3 (Gal-3), a protein that is linked to brain inflammation and plaque formation in Alzheimer's. By blocking Gal-3, TB006 could potentially reverse the progression of Alzheimer's disease”

This could be huge for her. This drug is also being used to treat other types of Dementia like Lewy Body. But it’s only available through clinical trial. It’s FDA approved for compassionate use with little to no side effects. As far as know, this is one of the first of its kind to actually tackle one of the main causes of Dementia and has the potential to remove the tangles and proteins in the brain essentially reversing the disease.

Its $10,000 a month and is not covered by any insurance. We would also need to fly my Mom to Florida once a month for this blood infusion treatment. My Mom would need at least 6 months of treatment. That comes to $60,000.

All donations will go toward treatment, flight expenses, hotel expenses, supplementation, and anything to lessen the financial burden for my family on this journey.

She just turned 60 and has many good years ahead of her. Let’s let her know she’s not alone. This effort also goes towards the clinical testing for a potentially viable option to treat this terrible disease; for people who have or will have these neurodegenerative diseases.

Mom Status update - She has severe hallucinations without medication but is now stable with medication on a daily basis. Her critical thinking capabilities have seriously diminished; along side of forgetfulness. She is dependent for a lot of basic activities. Movement has slowed as well and has trouble walking. Some days better some days worse. We are trying to keep her active and healthy.
