Debbie is facing her 3rd battle with cancer. She was just diagnosed with Osteosarcoma, a bone cancer in her lower jaw. She is going to need extensive mandible replacement surgery as well as chemotherapy. The surgery requires a portion of bone being taken from her leg to help form the new mandible section. She will also need a good portion of her teeth in that area removed with cosmetic fixes for that to come way down the line. The timeline for a full recovery will be one year. During that year, she will be unable to work at her beloved teaching job. The medical bills will be astronomical as a large deductible has to be met before benefits kick in. She is still recovering financially from her last battle with cancer in 2009. She also has a son in college at UNT and the expenses that go with that. She will need help with the needs of her active 6th grade daughter as well. We are at the beginning of this diagnosis and more tests and doctor visits will be coming. Once this process starts, it will move quickly. The medical bills are already coming in. The reason for this page is that so many people who love Debbie and her family have asked how they can help. While asking for help is not something she and her family feel comfortable in doing, they recognize the dire situation they are in and the need for a supportive community to embrace them right now.
