I never thought I’d be in a position to ask for help like this, but I’m reaching out because my beloved dog, Muffin, is very unwell and needs urgent veterinary care.

The past six months have been incredibly difficult for us. After a house fire, we were displaced from our home and have had to move between a hotel, an Airbnb, and now temporary accommodation while we wait for repairs to be completed. It’s been such a stressful and unsettled time for our family.

Alongside this, I’ve been dealing with ongoing eye issues for over two years, which have significantly reduced the vision in my left eye and ultimately forced me to leave my job which I loved. This has already left us in a very difficult financial position.

In the middle of everything, Muffin has become seriously unwell. She is almost 12 and means absolutely everything to me and my young daughter. She’s the most loving, gentle, cuddly soul and has been such a huge source of comfort through everything we’ve been through — which makes seeing her like this even more heartbreaking.

Muffin has developed a uterine infection (pyometra), which is causing toxins to build up in her body. She has already had multiple consultations, blood tests, an ultrasound, and IV treatment. She’s currently on antibiotics and liquid paracetamol to try and stabilise her.

However, she now urgently needs surgery to remove her uterus. We are doing everything we can, but after everything that’s happened, we simply can’t cover the full cost of her treatment, which is expected to be around £5,000.
