Jon "Top Dog's" Recovery Fund

Don protégé
As many of you may know my family is currently experiencing quite a hardship that life has thrown our way.  My dad, Jon Thomas, suffered a major stroke back on October 26th, 2015. It is so crazy how life can change in literally the blink of an eye.  I had just seen my dad the day before the stroke and he was perfectly fine.  We had enjoyed an amazing weekend at our family reunion where he was finally able to meet his newborn grandson, Levi, for the first time.  I am so grateful he was able to hold Levi and interact with him before this happened.  The first couple of weeks following the stroke were very scary and left a lot of unknowns.  Through the grace of God and everyone’s prayers, he is still with us today.  God is truly amazing and has definitely shown his hand in protecting my dad since the day it happened.  I am happy to report that my dad is now out of the woods and on a very long road to recovery.  The stroke has left him without the use of his left side and he is not currently able to walk or do things on his own.  As the bleeding in the brain continues to heal; more and more of his memory and brain function is returning.  My dad is currently in a inpatient rehabilitation facility which is 30+ miles away and my mom is there with him daily to help care for him.  I go as often as possible to be with them and relieve my mom so she can take a break.  Due to my mom having to be there almost full time it has left her unable to work hardly at all.  Currently the disability has not yet been approved, so there is very little income coming into the household.  My dad’s insurance from his employer is very limited as to what it will cover and is, unfortunately, up at the end of the year.  Although they are expected to at some point receive a very limited income through disability and PFL; it will not be enough to sustain them throughout his long path to recovery.  Insurance will only so much, if anything, of the extraordinary medical costs such as ambulatory needs, neurological specialists, medical supplies and in home care; not to mention the mounting cost for gas to travel back and forth to the facility to be with him.  A new insurance plan will also need to be chosen and the monthly premium paid once the new year rolls around.  In light of the mounting medical bills and significant reduction in family income, I invite you to join me in donating to my dad’s; aka Jon; aka Top Dog’s recovery fund.  As many know, my parents are the most caring, loving and kind people you will ever have the pleasure of knowing.  I would also like to welcome you to leave comments or advice; express your own feelings; or share pictures and memories that will help lift his spirit.  All of your continued prayers and positive energy will aid in his healing process. I would be more that grateful if you could please share this page with others, too.  I will try my very best to give weekly updates, so please check back often. I would like to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for all of the love and support.
Xoxo Janine
