Hi, we are Kata and Tom, we live in Berlin, Germany, and we have set up this fundraiser for our friend Hana Tefrati, and her organisation the Queens Collective , in Marrakesh, Morocco.
As you have probably heard in the news, last month the Marrakesh region of Morocco was hit by a devastating earthquake — the biggest in the country for over fifty years.
Hana has been running Queens Collective, a community art space in Marrakesh, for over a decade. The earthquake has ruined Hana’s house, and has also severely damaged the building that houses Queens Collective. Hana has a small child, Noa, and is expecting another child in the coming months. This earthquake has been a very hard blow.
Your donation can give immediate practical help to ensure that Hana can find a place to live, can have stability during the upcoming months when she will be caring for a newly-arrived infant, and will be able to keep Queens Collective alive and eventually, we hope, allow it to grow and flourish further. Every donation will be provide practical help for a unique space for independent artistic existence, outside of the global north, in the ancient medina of Marrakesh — and for the person who is making this space happen.
All funds received will be forwarded directly to Hana, and we will be updating all who make donations on progress made, both here and on social media.
