My name is Nikki and I'm currently a sociology PhD student at UC Berkeley. I love what I do, and I wouldn't trade it for anything - however, I live in the very cost prohibitive San Francisco Bay Area on a funding stipend that frankly, does not cover my living expenses. About 3/4ths of my income goes straight to rent and bills each month. I've been making it work for going on three years now, but due to a series of emergencies and unexpected expenses over the last year (dental procedures, vet costs for my cat, and repairs for my car are a few examples), my already tight budget has been pulled to its extremes.

 

There are a lot of gofundmes out there that are worth donating to, but I thought I would at least take a chance and put my situation out there. I've been able to lean on my credit cards for a while, but I've been in a position where I have to put more on these cards than I can pay off for a while now, and I'm about $10,000 in just credit card debt. I'm also currently a month late on my car payments, and I'd also like to catch up on that. I'm very embarrassed and stressed out to be in this position.

 

I've set the goal to $2000 because I'm just hoping to get enough funds to pay off a little bit, and hopefully raise my credit score a little bit in the process. If, for whatever reason, more money is raised, it will be used to pay off more debt, or bills, such as my monthly car payment or rent. Also, if anyone would like documentation for the debt and my recent expenses, I will gladly share them. Any support would make a huge difference, and I am thankful for your generosity.
