Hello! We are a group of Twin Cities women raising money to offset the travel costs of hiring a charter bus company to take 48 people to Washington DC for the Women's March on Washington onJanuary 21st, 2017. Many of us feel moved to be a part of physical representation of unity, diversity, equity, and love in the face of troubling and divisve times. This is not a protest. This is a show of strength. Our plan is to leave the Twin Cities on January 20th and drive straight through to Washington, where we will spend the day participating in this historic event. We'll re-board the bus that evening, stop for the night a few hours away at a hotel ( nothing fancy, and we're working on group rates) wake up early and be back home Sunday evening. Because of the length of the drive, it requires 2 drivers for shifts. That drives the cost up a bit. We anticpate the cost of transportation to be just under $275 per person. (Plus lodging). The bus we've chartered can take 49 riders, and this amount includes gratuity for the 2 drivers. We are willing to put up deposits and some going can cover their own expenses, but we'd love to help offset any costs to make it less of a hardship. We also hope to offer some partial scholarships to a few riders who have the wish and the excitement to go, but not the means at this time.  We'll make signs, bring food, our voices,bring our passion and our long johns! We'll look to coordinate with other MN groups going as well.  Your money goes directly to help offset transportation costs.  If for some reason the trip gets cancelled, your money will be refunded.  
We don't all know one another ( yet! ) but we are unified in our desire to show up and make our voices heard! Love Trumps Hate! Racism, Sexism, and Bigotry of any kind have no place in our leadership, nor should this fear-mongering and bullying mentality seem like the "new normal."  We see this March as an opportunity, it will be a postive show of people of all kinds from all over. We want to be a part of it, and will be extremely grateful for any assistance you're able to offer!
