Hello friends near and far!
We have started this campaign to help someone very dear to our hearts, a pillar in this community for many years now, Ms. Kristen. She has been teaching combined classes at City of Fountains for eight years, as a class teacher and enrichment teacher. She has sat on the Board and (formerly existing) Leadership committee, and served as Faculty Chair. Her incredibly creative and well-thought out lessons are an example of her devotion to her students as well as to the pedagogy of Waldorf Education. Her students are often engaged in lesson blocks that include field trips, a variety of beautiful artwork, building shelters in the park, and extensive projects such as Little Library that resides at school.
As an incredibly conscious community that is always present to support and love each other, we are confident you will all be eager to do what you can to lend a hand-- or a wallet!
Ms. Kristen has recently been clinically diagnosed with chronic Lyme’s Disease and simultaneous co-infections. If you have ever known someone who has been through treatment of Lyme's disease, you will know how arduous, expensive, and lengthy it can be. Every individual who is diagnosed with this tick-borne illness presents a different constellation of symptoms, making it difficult to treat, and often leading to those individuals seeking one path of healing after another before discovering what is effective.
Now, let's be very clear- her constellation of symptoms is NOT impairing her ability to teach, but they do make her treatment plan a bit more complicated because they may impede upon the typical use of antibiotics. Ms. Kristen is currently working with a variety of holistic healing modalities under the guidance of medical practitioners, in addition to receiving ongoing testing.
In any case, her treatment plan will be very costly for her family and will continue for one to two years!
Thank you all so much. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to Acacia.
Warmly,
Ms. Acacia, Ms. Bee, Ms. Dory, Ms. Daniela, and Ms. Kari
