Multiple Sclerosis Coping House
FUNDRAISER TO PROCURE A BUILDING TO HOUSE AND STABILIZE FAMILIES DISPLACED BY MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS
mul·ti·ple scle·ro·sisnouna chronic, typically progressive disease involving damage to the sheaths of nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, whose symptoms may include numbness, impairment of speech and of muscular coordination, blurred vision, and severe fatigue and pain.
I am an over achiever with a no limits approach to life in whateverit is to which I commit. Having always preferred to work energetically toward authoring my life’s story, it falls well within the realm of sensibility to imagine that my life halted as I was thrown into limbo when initially diagnosed with “Progressive Relapsing Multiple Sclerosis” atop my struggle against chronic asthma, type-2 diabetes, high blood pressure and blackout inducing migraines. My over-achieving mindset coupled with my scruple about asking for handouts made it extremely difficult to accept the news and seek the necessary assistance in ending that chapter and starting anew.My name is Simona Sampson-Gaymon aka 'Redd Blazz' and I am committed to passionately raising my children (there are seven, of which I have five, and there are twins in triplets in the lot) and loving my husband all the while managing to find time to explore my penchants for music (writing and singing) and cosmetology. I lost sensation and movement on my entire right side from head to toe, was confined to my bed in pain and madness, and was told by doctors I’d never walk again on my own, to be merely discharged from hospital with a scooter chair and a physical therapist for life. Soon thereafter, I lost my livelihood, my home and completely, the use of my right side.
With nowhere to turn and no help, I had to downsize to avoid losing all, and I had to rely on my actionable skills (musical), multiple sclerosis had not rendered ineffective for survival and feeding my family. I was angry and I did not believe that this was my God-ordained path, but after going through all the stages of grief over losing myself, I decided I would not and will not give up.My case is anomalous with all my different ailments and allergies, so it took going to four hospitals and the opinions of seven doctors before I found anyone to invest the necessary timeand effort into providing the care best suited to facilitate my approach to the road to recovery. This took two and a half years. Throughout the process, I felt lost, helpless, and not to mention alone. I reached a point where I had become majorly depressed, as I was in constant pain and discomfort and at that point, I understood why the suicide rate for this disease is so high. Because I understand that my life and my purpose are greater than the sum of the currently missing parts, I refused to become another of M.S.’s suicide victims. With the remaining inventory I had from closing my salon/boutique, I started an online store at www.poshmark.com/@reddblazz
as well as an iTunes account and all other streaming mediums I could find to share my music with the world #ReddBlazzMusic. From the proceeds of these ventures, I am pledging 25% towards starting the M.S. Coping House, a safe haven for anyone who has been attacked by M.S. and found themselves awakened one day with their lives forever altered by this disease virtually overnight.
M.S. cares not who it strikes, and so this can happen to anyone. If you’d like to help mitigate the rapidly changing and debilitating circumstances that befall M.S.’s victims, there are several ways you can. You can shop for your fashionable accessories through my online stores, download my music on iTunes or stream it on the many other outlets by Google searching “Redd Blazz music” or donate any amount to the M.S. Coping house right here. My cause is Multiple Sclerosis Awareness to fund MS Coping House. Here, anyone with this disease will have access to shelter, food, and moral support for you and your family as we devise your plan for survival, recovery, and back to autonomy. I cannot communicate enough thanks and appreciation to those who took the time to read this and that much more to those who decide to support the cause. As a demonstration of my gratitude to those that donate $1 to the cause, a brick on the front of the building will have the name of your choice etched in it, and donations from $100 - $500 will have house scholarships in their names…
Thank you
