Michael's Brain Tumor Recovery
Donation protected
On September 13, 2018, Michael and his wife along with their 7 month old baby, were out enjoying the day when Michael collapsed after having a seizure. Kerstin, his wife, immediately went in to Super Woman mode! Michael was holding the baby in his carrier when he fell. The baby fell on top of him unhurt. Kerstin had to get the baby and put him safely aside before turning Michael on his side so he would not choke from the foam the was coming out of his mouth. The young girl that was working in the Tropical Smoothie they were in called 911 and went to assist Kerstin. After having several seizures it was discovered that Michael had a brain tumor on the left side frontal lobe. Michael had to undergo brain surgery in early October and has been out of work since the day the seizures happened. Michael was hospitalized for several days as the doctors wanted to run tests, after tests, after tests. It was recommended that Michael had to have the tumor removed. Michael spent the next couple of weeks after finding out he had a tumor worried and scared. Can you imagine, being a young husband with a wife of 2 years and a 7 month old baby on how you would be supporting your family? Michael didn't let his emotions take control of him. He gathered his thoughts and gave them all to God. Sure he was still scared but he had some comfort knowing he will get through this. The doctor who performed the surgery was not able to remove all of the tumor, therefore he is waiting to see what the next steps are going to be. The tumor was benign but may still need to have either radiation or chemo to get the remaining part of the tumor that is left. While he stays home to recover he is unable to return to work. He and his wife are now struggling to meet all the medical bills that they are facing. His wife is also out of work so she can stay home to care for Michael and their baby.
