Hello my name is Teka Perry, I am Ms. Wheelchair Wyoming 2023. Ms. Wheelchair Wyoming is a nonprofit organization celebrating women in wheelchairs their accomplishments, leadership, and advocacy. It is one of 30 state programs; each state program has a titleholder that have their own platform of advocacy to share with their state. Each year state titleholders go to compete in the Ms. Wheelchair America competition which is held in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
My platform for is "Encouraging Parents with Disabilities", although living with a disability is tough, it does not mean that you cannot still live your life and be a parent at the same time. There are many struggles that come along with having a disability, but you don't have to let that overcome you and take over your whole life. As a mother with a disability, I still continue to strive every day to give my kids what they deserve and also to do things with my kids. I take my kids to do a lot of things that I had never thought I would be able to do, but, they also deserve a mom that will be able to do things with them even with having a disability.
In August 2023, I will be heading to Grand Rapids Michigan to compete in the Ms. Wheelchair America competition. However in order for me to compete in this competition I must raise $2000 for my entry fee along with an additional thousand for extra expenses my travel for myself and my competition companion. Any amount of money you can donate would be greatly appreciated.
