Our beloved Teacher, the heartbeat of Busy Bees Academy of Learning for 25 years, lost her life to a rare type of cancer called Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma. She passed away early Thursday morning on February 16, 2023, surrounded by family. Maria fought courageously from the moment she was diagnosed in July 2018. Maria’s cancer originated from breast and spread to her lungs, spine and brain. After numerous chemotherapy sessions, radiation, and two brain surgeries to remove the cancer, this did not dim Maria’s spirit as she continued to be involved with children. Working with them and helping them grow in a fun-filled environment helped Maria to nurture her soul while she was bravely fighting a disease that held such a tight grip on her.

Maria’s dedication to the children and families of Boca Raton and the surrounding community was only surpassed by her passion to help those in need. Now in this difficult time for her family, we would like to support them. The outstanding medical bills are huge and the funeral costs are piling up. Please support Maria’s family in providing a final peaceful resting place for an unsung local hero, Maria Sanchez- a loving mother, daughter, teacher, friend, and above all, one of God’s angels. May you rest in peace, dear Maria Sanchez. We love you and miss you but your spirit will be forever alive in the hearts of the thousands you touched.
