Ms. Lynda Zajackowski is one of our lovely science teachers at Harmony Public Schools. Those who know her will describe her as an inspirational teacher who challenges her students and puts their needs in front of her own. She sacrifices her time and energy to organize some of the biggest events in our school, such as Halloween Movie Night and Harmony's Got Talent. These events gives our students a chance to be creative, facilitates a positive school culture, and encourages connections between our teachers and our students outside of the classroom. She is known for mentoring extravagant and unique student research projects that leads them to international competitions, for having the greenest of thumbs in the entire school, for eating very healthy, and for making jokes in many otherwise boring staff meetings. Unfortunately, in September of 2018, after a workout Ms. Z felt an inflamed lump near her neck. It was an enlarged lymph node. After having several imaging tests, followed by a few biopsies, Ms. Z was finally diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer that had spread to her lymph nodes.

In December of 2018, Ms. Z had undergone a total hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy, leaving an ugly 15 inch scar down her middle. Even so, after further testing, scans, and exploratory surgeries, cancerous cells were found to have metastasized far beyond her ovaries and fallopian tubes and into her lymph nodes, categorizing her cancer as Stage 4 Ovarian Cancer, the most advanced stage of ovarian cancer. She will still have to endure months of chemotherapy and radiation.

Because of the brutality of chemotherapy lasting throughout the school year, Ms. Z is too weak to work and is currently on term disability. Despite her reduced salary, she still has to secure her daily living expenses in addition to a large increase in medical bills. She completely relies on God, the love and generosities of her friends, co-workers, neighbors, and sometimes even her students to help her get to her doctor visits, to provide her with warm home-cooked meals, and to give her companionship over the holidays during the hardest time anyone has to go through.

Please help us raise funds for Ms. Z just to ease her worries if not her pain. She misses her students dearly and she can't wait to get back into the classroom with her spirit and energy to give them all a great big hug.
Any donation, big or small, would be truly appreciated. Any love and support that can be given will certainly help Ms. Z say, “TAKE that, Cancer!” once and for all.
Thank you for your support and please spread her story. Ms. Z would want to say “God Bless you all for your love and support!”
We Love Ms. Z!
