Hi Friends. My cat and friend for the last 12 years, Ms. Geddy is experiencing sudden acute kidney failure. Over the last 72 hours she became extremely sick and weakened to the point where the vet advised me to take her to the emergency room. After a stay overnight in the hospital, today she underwent emergency surgery for blockages in both of her kidneys. Without this surgery she was going to die. With this surgery she is now in a position to clear the toxins and infection from her body and allow the doctors to treat the complications caused.
Ms. Geddy has been an otherwise healthy cat, with no signs of any illness. The doctor described her condition as rare and unexpected. During her last visit to the vet in June, she received a clean bill of health. Given her health, and the doctor's expectation that the surgery will save her life, the surgery was a foregone conclusion. She still has years of life left ahead of her.
Geddy is extremely loving and sweet, and steals the heart of everyone who meets her. Her namesake is Geddy Lee, the bass player from Rush, who has a high pitched voice just like she does. If you follow my work, you may have seen photos of her in my studio. She has always been very well behaved, and I never have to worry about her making a mess of my supplies or my work - which is very un-cat-like of her. She has also been there for me as my friend, keeping me company during tough times. Ms. Geddy is a member of my family.
The surgery is extremely expensive, and my goal for the GoFundMe is $8,000 to help offset a portion of the costs. I would prefer to handle the situation on my own; but the cost here is daunting especially as a full time artist and small business owner.
As a small token of my gratitude, I will send everyone who helps us an exclusive print of my artwork, unique to this fundraiser. It is not much, but I would like to offer something in exchange for your help. I will contact you with details.
Thank you for reading this, and for your help if you are able to
support Ms. Geddy's recovery.
