Ms. Ava is a lifelong Pittsburgh resident who has had more than any decent person's fair share of difficulty. After losing her son  and her mobility in recent years, she was also robbed of her home and has been unhoused for the last 10 months. Ms. Ava is a resilient person and she has managed to survive under extremely difficult and hazardous conditions in that time, and in the last month has narrowly survived both a heart attack and an assault that left her with a torn rotator cuff and a concussion. All this against the backdrop of the COVID pandemic and the already shocking lack of resources for the unhoused.
Ms. Ava has, at last, managed to get into a program that will provide her with an apartment and assistance with rent. The only remaining barrier to Ms. Ava getting her life back is a 30 day waiting period until she can be placed. As of now she is temporarily housed, but that housing is precarious and still costs a small rent, and due to her medical condition and other contributing factors, she has no way to make ends meet herself in that time, or provide for her own food costs or other needs. 
We are asking you to contribute what you can to help Ms. Ava make it through the next month so that she can rest, heal and finally have the stability and support that anyone needs to make a dignified life. Any funds we raise beyond the listed goal will be gifted to Ms. Ava to help provide her a financial buffer as she looks for employment and continues to recover from the physical toll of the last several years.
