MS Can’t Stop This Love Story

Meet Shawn and Brenda, high school sweethearts whose love story is still being written in spite of MS.

What Is MS?
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an unpredictable disease of the central nervous system that disrupts the flow of information within the brain and between the brain and body.

Brenda was diagnosed with MS back in 2006 and after being an LPN for 15 years, a cheer coach, and heavily active in her children's life she had to quit and slow down.

I have been neighbors with Shawn and Brenda since 2001. We have become family! We have watched each other’s kids grow up, get married, and have babies of their own. Brenda was also my daughter's cheer coach and

I watched them as they brokenheartedly, yet gracefully, walked through losing their son Joshuah to brain cancer when he was only 9 years old.

I have watched them walk-through so many different trials yet still have a smile on their face and always thinking about others.

That’s what brings me to this GoFundMe Account.

They need a Handicap Van so that Shawn can take his bride with him wherever he goes.

MS may have taken away Brenda’s ability to move like she used to but it has not and never will take away her desire to THRIVE and LIVE Life to the fullest.

As the primary caregiver, Shawn has had to quit his job and start his own side business just to keep a roof over their head and food in their belly.

I watch Shawn all the time walking Brenda around the block. I see him taking her to doctors’ appointments and trying to get her out of the house as much as possible.

I see the Votran bus coming to pick them up and there is Brenda waving at me and Shawn giving me that great big smile.

But I also see the pain in his eyes and the longing in her eyes.

The pain in his eyes because they both want to be able to get up and go somewhere, anywhere together whenever they want and the longing in her eyes because...well she is Brenda and has so much zest for life, adventure, and tenacity in her.

The Van That Awaits the Love Adventure of a Lifetime

This van needs to last them a looooong time so the one they have in mind is the 2020 Chrysler Pacifica handicap van much like the one below:

We are hoping to bless Shawn and Brenda with this van by Christmas so that they can visit their grandson Arez for the Holidays.
