Ms. Binx Emergency Vet Visit
Donation protected
My sweet Ms. Binx is now 12 going on 13 years old. For last 48 hours she’s been in great pain with audibly strained bowl movements, labored breathing, and near total inability to make it in time to her litter box before having accidents on the apartment floor. Upon examination her rear glands appear majorly enflamed and are excruciatingly tender to the touch- a very clear indicator of impaction and possible infection. I’m terrified that one will burst or abscess before I’m able to get her to the vet, leading to an even more dire emergency than the one she and I are currently struggling through.
Binx also suffers from weight issues as well as chronic arthritis in her lower back and hind legs. Cleaning herself is difficult, and though I do my very best to help her every day she is now in major need of a complete body shave for hygienic reasons. In the past I have attempted to do this myself but the arthritic pain has now made it all but impossible without the help of a professional. It breaks my heart that even simple brushing at this point now causes her to cry out and bite at her front paws.
Never before have I appealed to my friends for financial assistance, however this cat is my entire world. Without her I absolutely would not have had the strength to weather 2 years of total isolation during the pandemic. She is the SWEETEST and most docile kitty I’ve ever encountered as well as the only tangible connection I have left to my dear Marc Hudson, her devout guardian of 9 years who passed away just before lockdown in 2020.
Between the emergency exam, blood work, hygiene shave, and chronic ailments (that are all majorly impacting her quality of life) I’m looking at a vet bill between upwards of $1000-$1800. This of course depends entirely on who is able to see us first, the amount of treatment they’re able to give her during our visit, and how fervently they insist on a follow-up appointment to address all of her issues.
At the moment I am emotionally/financially very much at my wit’s end. Any amount at all toward Binx’s recovery will be incredibly appreciated from the bottom of both her little heart and mine.
