Hi, we are Leah and Connor, and we are teachers at Michelle Randles School of Dancing.
On Thursday, 29th May 2025, we are doing a skydive to raise funds for lifesaving cancer treatment for Shannon, a long-standing pupil at our school.
Leah: “I have not only danced with Shannon and her sister for many years, but I have also had the pleasure—alongside our Principal, Miss Michelle—of teaching her, which has always been a delight.”
Connor: “As a teacher at the school, I equally wanted to help and support one of our pupils.”
Shannon was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 8. She underwent extensive chemotherapy, surgery, and proton beam therapy and was considered cured. Now, at 16 years old, she is sadly fighting cancer for the second time. Surely no one deserves that.
Her case has been discussed at a national level within the NHS, and alongside nine rounds of chemotherapy, a treatment called AMORE has been recommended.
AMORE is a three-week treatment process:
Week 1: The first surgery will remove Shannon’s eye and the tumour. Rods will be inserted into her eye socket for the next stage.
Week 2: The second part of the treatment is brachytherapy, a form of radiotherapy designed to minimise damage to surrounding tissue—reducing the risk of brain damage. Shannon is expected to receive brachytherapy every two hours for 2–4 days. This is to destroy any remaining cancer cells after surgery.
Week 3: The second surgery will remove the rods and include extensive facial reconstructive surgery.
This treatment offers Shannon the best chance of beating cancer for good.
Unfortunately, this treatment is only available in the Netherlands and is not funded by the NHS. That’s why we are helping Shannon’s family raise the £80,000 needed to give this brave, funny, and selfless young girl the treatment she deserves.
Please support us in this cause—it would mean the world to see her back dancing again.
Every penny donated will go directly towards Shannon’s treatment, and every act of generosity will be deeply appreciated.
Any funds not needed for Shannon’s treatment will be donated to help other children fighting cancer.
Please donate if you are able, and share this far and wide.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
