Stay Patient and Trust Your Journey
Welcome, and thank you for joining my Journey to Mrs. America 2018
My name is Kayzie Weedman and I am a local, young professional woman who is passionate about serving our community. I work as The Internal Communications Manager as well as the Corporate Community Events Planner at Press Ganey. I was recently honored with the Power of One award at Press Ganey. The Power of One Award will be bestowed on an individual or small group/team for exemplary behavior in a sustained effort that represents the best of our company in one or more areas of Customer Service (internal or external), Leadership, or Growth/Profit. With my career, I hope to shine light on the modern day women and what “She” is. I want to let married women know that it is okay to have a successful career, a family, and still have hopes and dreams, all while knowing you are still a great wife and mother. I want to be the advocate for today’s modern day women and I am so glad my career has brought me that opportunity.
My husband Andrew and I reside in Granger, IN with our puppies Sushi and Sake. I was born in South Bend and have lived here all my life, except during my 4 years studying at Ball State University in Muncie, IN. I knew after graduation that I wanted to return to the place in the Midwest that I have learned to love so much and felt sure I wanted to continue to call the South Bend area home! I love volunteering in the South Bend community, especially for The Center for the Homeless, the Food Bank, The Boys and Girl Club, and being a local Director for the MAO for Miss South Bend and Miss South Bend’s Outstanding Teen. I am very passionate about service and hope to leave every place I go better then when I got there.
During my college days at Ball State, I became involved in the Miss American Organization where I was crowned Miss Ball State in 2014, it was through this organization that my passion for serving others was really able to take flight and that passion still burns brightly in my everyday life. Mentoring is my passion and Ball state is where that passion grew. I was the Vice President for College Mentors for Kids, where I was able to mentor children in the Muncie, IN Area. My passion for Mentoring is still so strong and I bring it into my everyday life and marriage, today. I still participate in College Mentors, I have a men-tee through Big Brothers Big Sister, and I mentor young women in the South Bend area. I also, work with mentoring.org where, MENTORING fuels the quantity and quality of mentoring relationships for the world's young people while closing the mentoring gap. I am also a national ambassador for Girl Scouts of Northwestern Indiana. I work to bring awareness to the need for mentors and get mentors to sign up to be a part of the change!
The Mrs. America Organization focuses on serving your family, community, and living a healthy/giving lifestyle. I have chosen to continue my personal platform of “Mentoring Matters” This is my main platform, but I also champion Ovarian Cancer Awareness and Endometriosis awareness. Ovarian Cancer runs in my family and is a very real reality for my future. My great grandmother and grandmother passed away from Ovarian Cancer and my mother had a hysterectomy because of pre-cancerous scares. Endometriosis also runs in my family and is a very real reality for my family. My Grandmother and Mother both tried for 7-10 years to have children and could not because of endometriosis. After years of trying, they were both able to have children with the help of modern day medicine. Both Ovarian Cancer and Endometriosis are realities I am going to face and I am so lucky to have my husband on my side. I am also lucky that I have the ability to share both me and my families stories to help bring awareness to these silent, often undetected diseases. Having the ability to be that resource or ear for someone struggling with these issues is something I hold near and dear to my heart.
What I need from you!
I am in need of donations to make this journey possible. I will be traveling ALL over the State of Indiana to make a difference. I am bringing my platform, #MentoringMatters state wide. I will also need help with traveling and workshop expenses. I will also need help with everything Mrs. America which includes wardrobe, ad sponsorship, appearance fees, and expenses to get to Mrs. America. I would appreciate anything that you could give to assist with my journey so that I can represent Indiana to the best of my ability! No amount is too small and any contribution will be greatly appreciated!
Thank you, again, for following my journey!
With love,
Kayzie Weedman
