Maribel's Cancer Treatment Fund

Donation protected
A few years ago, my mom was treated for sinonasal carcinoma, a rare form of cancer located in the sinus cavity of the nose. With the help of you all, family and friends, and with additional financial assistance from MD Anderson Cancer Center, she was able to get the treatment she needed and everything looked great from that point on.

On Easter Sunday morning of this year, my mom experienced a severe coughing fit. She coughed a mass out, along with a small amount of blood. Thinking fast, my dad preserved the mass and had a doctor study it.

The results were concerning. The pathologist reported that the mass was indeed the same sinonasal carcinoma she had been treated for years ago, but this time it was located in her throat.

Looking for a second opinion, my mom reached out to the doctors at MD Anderson that had treated her before. After further studies, it appears our fears were realized, and the cancer returned, this time along her right vocal cord.

Today, with heavy but hopeful hearts, we are reaching out to our community of family, friends, and our social network at large to assist us with the tests and treatments to come.

My parents do not have health insurance, and with the current state of health care acts and laws, they were unable to get access to any sort of financial assistance through private insurance or through MD Anderson (as they did previously). Practically everything she needs will be out of pocket. Tens of thousands of dollars, potentially.

Your monitary donations will go 100% toward medical expenses and balances accrued, including hospital visits, appointments with doctors, lab tests, radiology exams, and treatment.

We have already accrued a balance of $1,100 with MD Anderson for one visit with the doctor and a pathology consult. Her next appointment will be sometime this week, June 11-17. We are not looking to have all our funding goals met immediately, but we would like to be able to pay the medical bills soon so there are no problems with any future appointments, tests, or treatment (due to a balance with the hospital).

Donate what you can. Anything would be greatly appreciated.

If you can help in any other way, you can reach out to me or my parents.
