I'm the art teacher at North College Hill Elementary school, where I teach around 700 students from K-4th grade.
My students love being read to on my carpet at the beginning of art class and they have had a lot of success this year doing lessons based on books, such as Giraffe's Can't Dance and If I Ran the Zoo.
I have a small library of about 10-15 story books in my art room for the students to read when they finish their projects early. They enjoy my "art books" like Mix It Up and The Day the Crayons Quit.
I'm raising money to expand our classroom library for next year to include more art related books and story books with an emphasis on illustration. If I surpass my goal, I'd like to use the surplus to pay for an illustrator to visit our school.
To celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week, GoFundMe will donate $1000 for my classroom if I recieve at least $500 in donations plus I'll be entered into a drawing to recieve Yoobi supplies for my entire school! #WeLoveTeachers
