After 19 years of guiding, loving and teaching our kindergartners here at St. Joseph, Mrs. Newman is retiring.  It's impossible to put into words what she means to all of us.  To know that your children, your whole world, are in the best capable hands possible when they're not with you is the greatest gift a parent can have.  To know that their teacher cares not only for their minds, but for their souls is to know that your children will excel in the world beyond kindergarten.      
         We can't let Kathy leave without a big send off and a really great gift - though it pales in comparison to what she has given us.  Recently she and her husband purchased an RV and kayaks and they will be exploring the country in their retirement.  As a final gift from all of of us, we would like to offer her this campaign as Kathy's very own "Travel Fund".  After presenting her with this gift, I will make her the beneficiary on this account and she can use the money for park fees, camping fees, rv equipment, etc.
         I apologize for the urgency in pulling this gift together, but Kathy's retirement party is quickly approaching.  Please consider making your donations asap.  Also, no amount is too small, so please do not feel pressured by any means.  You can also donate anonymously if you prefer.
        And speaking of Kathy's retirement party,  please join us Tuesday, May 28th at 3pm in the St. Joseph gym.   All current and former students and parents are encouraged to write a letter to Mrs. Newman sending her well wishes and sharing gratitude for all her work and kindness.  Please send those letters to the SJS front office (503 Edith St.  Missoula, MT 59802) as soon as possible so they can be ready for her scrapbook to be presented to her that Tuesday.  
      Also, please feel free to send this page onto any present or past families that you know would want to be a part of Kathy's celebration.
