Help Our Beloved Mrs. Mazza Fight Cancer

Hello,

We, the staff of PS 58, The Carroll School, are writing on behalf of our friend and colleague, Cathy Mazza. Mrs. Mazza, a 4th Grade teacher at PS 58 in Brooklyn NY, who was recently diagnosed with Stage 3 Lung Cancer, which has now metastasized to her brain and lymph nodes. Cathy will begin to undergo chemotherapy treatments. Unfortunately, due to the severity of her illness, will not be able to return to work anytime soon.

Cathy has been a devoted member of the PS 58 Staff for over 10 years. She began as a substitute teacher and became a permanent teacher shortly thereafter. Cathy has taught lower movement, 4th grade, 1st grade, and kindergarten. She has touched many lives and has been a part of many of the PS 58 students' education.

Cathy and her husband Greg have a four year old son who gives her the positive light and strength needed during this very scary time. We all know that the cost of living and taking care of a family can be a struggle. However, when you add the hardship of not being able to work topped with many medical expenses that Cathy is about to endure, it makes it even more cumbersome. We are asking you to help us support Cathy throughout the next few months to lessen just some of the stress and burdens she may face. We are hoping your donations can help Cathy and Greg pay some of the medical bills, household expenses, and help support her son Lorenzo. Cathy will also need some help with her travel back and forth for treatments.

We are asking for your help with any donation that you can make as she battles this away. We are also asking for your positive wishes and prayers. Cathy has an arduous battle ahead but with the strength, prayers, and support from everyone, we are hoping to help Cathy overcome this.
