Ardith Enlow, known and loved by many names - Mrs. Enlow, Auntie Ardith, Ardie, Ama, The Queen of English, Mom (just to name a few) - began to feel slightly unwell in February. In true Ardith style, she didn't complain, she kept teaching despite her decreased appetite and increased abdominal discomfort. Over the past couple of months, she has sought medical care to get some answers, incurring costly medical bills, some of which haven't been fully covered by insurance.
A mass was discovered on her liver, along with concerning nodules throughout her abdomen. Her symptoms included jaundice and itchiness along with her reduced desire to eat. After an initial frustratingly inconclusive biopsy, a 2nd one was done and the results were received this week.
Ardith has been diagnosed with Hepatobiliary cancer. She recently had an ERCP procedure and a stent placed in her bile duct to help reduce her jaundice and to improve her itchiness. The only treatment option for her cancer is to undergo chemotherapy, a decision that has yet to be made. Right now, she is hoping the stent will continue to help her feel better overall so that important follow-on decisions can be made.
Many of you are certain to be shocked and devasted by this unexpected and heartbreaking news. Many of you may want to help.
The best way to tangibly help Ardith and Harry (her husband) right now is to donate here to help them cover medical expenses. Some medical appointments require paid parking, so even a donation of $5 is worthwhile and helpful to offset all that they are enduring.
