Mrs. Dorsha's Journey
Donation protected
On March 4, 2019 our beloved Mrs. Johanna Dorsha was diagnosed with breast cancer and cancer was also detected in the lymph node of her right armpit. Mrs. Dorsha has somewhere between stage 2 and stage 4 invasive ductal carcinoma. In addition, the biopsied tissue was positive for the HER2 protein. She has a PET scan scheduled for March 18th, which will discover if there is more. We are all hopeful and praying that is not the case.
Johanna has a long road ahead of her which includes many appointments, chemotherapy, and surgery to remove the tumors. She will also be meeting with a geneticist to make a decision on a mastectomy. Mrs. Dorsha will need to be out on disability due to the extreme fatigue caused by her treatments. Her immune system will also be at risk, so she needs to be home. The entire treatment process will take approximately a year. As you know, when you are out on disability, you receive a reduced salary. This is where we come in.
Many of you have asked how to help and all of us here at LMAAC wanted to set up this page to help Mrs. Dorsha. We want to raise money to help fill in the gaps left by being on disability. We want to help with any out of pocket medical expenses she will need. We want to help with house cleaning, meals, outings for her family, anything that will support our incredible Johanna and her wonderful family. Mrs. Dorsha gives so much of herself...to her family, to her students, to our staff. We want to show our love, appreciation and support. Please donate if you can. No amount is too small! We are in this together...she will "fight like a girl" and as Johanna says, "bring it on." Thank you for your compassion and care.
