MRRH COSECSA Residency Fund
Donation protected
I'm currently working as a global surgery fellow through UCSF HEAL in Mbale Uganda at Mbale Regional Referral Hospital (MRRH), a public hospital, where I am working with COSECSA (College of Surgeons of East Central and South Africa) surgery residents. The residents have to pay to fund their training and do not receive a reliable salary (~1 million Ugandan shillings/month) from the Ugandan government in a timely manner. In order to pass the first portion of their residency, MCS/membership, they must pay for and take an exam in order to progress to FCS/fellowship to complete their residency training. The cost of this exam (2.5 million Uganda shillings/$641) is prohibitively expensive for residents who need to work a second job during residency and/or also need to take time off in between MCS and FCS years to work to make ends meet. There are currently eight MCS residents who will take their exams this upcoming August.
I am selling Ugandan arabica coffee beans and katenge items (shirts, skirts, dresses, bags) made by my local tailor to anyone interested with any donation that is greatly appreciated! Please message me with questions and or your address so I can send you the items. Thank you!
