Help Mr. Peaches' Vet Journey

Donation protected
Hey, I'm Karli! Y'all know me and know that I foster pigeons a few times every year. This time, I'm raising money to help Peaches, my current foster son, so I can take care of his vet bills, and also buy more air purifiers for my apartment to protect him, my son (Micoo), and myself from the hazardous air (we're based in Los Angeles).

I'm an animation industry worker who hasn't worked union since 2022, with the exception of a five week job back in December 2024. I can't really afford to care for Peaches, but he needed a place to stay, and I wasn't about to let an animal suffer. Mr. Peaches is also currently looking for his forever home!

Peches was found abandoned in Long Beach. There was a larger flock of fantail pigeons abandoned, and thanks to the Palomacy network, they were able to rescue all of the pigeons... Except for one.

About two weeks later, a lovely woman named Clara reached out asking if someone could home a fantail pigeon she found walking around aimlessly. It was Peaches!

It was very likely that Peaches and his flock were abandoned outside because they were no longer needed, or they were used for an event (such as dove releases for weddings or funerals); these pigeons are fully domestic and have no survival capabilities. So many like Peaches are not fortunate enough to survive.

At his first vet visit, he was diagnosed with parasites commonly contracted from ingesting insects. Poor Peaches was alone and abandoned outside, starving, with nothing to eat except for what he could find. It breaks my heart to pieces. He has to go to the vet to get an ivermectin shot every other week, and next week is another full checkup to see his health progress.

Peaches came to me filthy and slightly died pink (so he might have been used for a gender reveal), and one of the first things he did was take a bath. It is likely Peaches has never felt the loving touch of a human before. In his short few weeks with me, though, he has warmed up marvelously. He'll perch on my knee, and he's slowly learning that hands are not so scary, and that they are great for scritches! The other day, I gave him another bath, and he let me splash water on him. He even lifted up his wings so I could get his armpits. I don't think he's ever had someone to help him bathe before.

He's a sweet and loving young man, under one year old, as he has been finding his voice and learning to coo and spin lately. He has so much warmth and companionship to give, and would do great with a human who could give him a lot of attention, or in another flock, as he is very social.

I would really appreciate any and all help with caring for Peaches. I still have not recovered from the financial blow of his first vet visit, and with his next one coming up next Monday, I currently cannot afford to bring him. He absolutely needs these visits so he can be in good health and get prepared to go to his forever home.

Thank you for any and all help.
