Charlie's Angels
Donation protected

Chelsea and Bryan Bell were so happy to welcome precious baby Charlotte (Charlie) into this world on September 9th 2019. Shortly after birth it was discovered that Charlie had significant medical problems and would require prolonged hospitalization. After weeks of testing, Charlie was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder called Smith-Lemli-Opitz syndrome. SLOS is characterized as an error of cholesterol synthesis, but affects every body system including the heart, kidneys, liver, and brain.
Early on it became apparent that this little girl is a fighter. Since birth, Charlie has been hospitalized frequently and requires around-the-clock medical care. Her tube-feedings, medications, and treatments are all administered and monitored by her knowledgeable nurse-mommy. Recently, Charlie’s liver began to fail and she is now fighting for her life. She is currently waiting to be flown to the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh to be evaluated for the liver transplant that she desperately needs.
Both Chelsea and Bryan have chosen careers in the medical field and dedicated their lives to helping others. Bryan is balancing his job at the fire department, caring for his son Bentley, and spending time with Charlie at the hospital. Chelsea has stepped away from her position as an ER nurse to provide the care that Charlie needs to survive. This has created an enormous financial strain on the family. Although Charlie has medical insurance, we are asking for donations to relieve the burden of non-covered expenses. This will include the cost of living in Pittsburgh for an unknown length of time, travel expenses for the family, and any post-surgical costs that may arise. Please share this page and consider donating. Your generosity during this difficult time will be impactful and greatly appreciated. Thank You.
