For those who do not know me personally, my name is Mike and I've been disabled since birth.
I came into this world with collapsed lungs, and things only got more "interesting" since then. During my life I have had three organ transplants, two of which failed. I have experienced brittle bones, seizures, and even diabetic coma. Most recently I have been dealing with extreme migraines and something called "recurrent corneal erosion" which can lead to blindness.
Because of my "adventurous" health, it has been nearly impossible for me to find long term employment, or complete any higher education programs. I've tried to attend university twice in the past, only to be forced to withdraw due to the transplant failures I mentioned. As a result I rely on Social Security's Disability Aid to survive.
However, earlier this month Social Security declared that I am no longer disabled according to their guidelines. I am in the process of appealing this decision, with the help of legal counsel. The firm I have retained is certain they will succeed on my behalf, but unfortunately for me, their services are not free. I am asking for help to pay these legal fees, which are expected to be around $6,000.
Any and all help is sincerely appreciated.
