Alpha Chi Omega is a nationally known non-profit sorority, and its main philanthropy is supporting victims of and preventing against domestic violence. The Iota Tau chapter of Alpha Chi Omega will be hosting a fundraiser at the University Student Union at California State University, San Marcos on Thursday, October 15th, 2015. This fundraising event is our twelfth annual Mr. Alpha Chi!
Mr. Alpha Chi is an annual event hosted by many chapters of Alpha Chi Omega across the country. It is a male pageant in which different California State San Marcos campus leaders will compete for the title of Mr. Alpha Chi for the 2015- 2016 school year. Those in attendance will include students, Alpha Chi Omega members from other universities nearby, community members, faculty, friends, and family members of all the aforementioned.
Our chapter will donate all proceeds from the event to Center for Community Solutions. Founded in 1969, Center for Community Solutions (CCS) helps more than 30,000 adults and children each year to heal and prevent relationship and sexual violence. CCS operates the only rape crisis center in the city of San Diego along with a countywide 24-hour bilingual crisis helpline. The non-profit agency also provides emergency domestic violence shelters, hospital and court accompaniment, as well as legal and counseling services for those affected by rape, domestic violence, and elder abuse. CCS also works with local community groups and schools to provide innovative prevention programs to promote healthy relationships and peaceful communities.
