In honor of Juliene

11/18/2021
It is with a heavy heart to say that Juliene left this world on November 14, 2021. She went peacefully in her home, surrounded by loved ones. She leaves behind her daughter, parents, siblings, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends.  Juliene will be missed by all who knew her.
Any funds from this page will now be used to cover funeral costs, lingering medical bills and to create a trust for her daughter, our family thanks you all for your contributions, prayers, and support.

11/7/2021 Update
Thank you seems like such an insignificant word these days, but it remains all we have to offer everyone. Thank you for your donations, for your well wishes and support. Things are not going well, but still Juliene fights. Our hope with this page is to be able to cover her funeral costs and to ensure her final plans. We will never be able to thank everyone enough, for this small ray of hope in our darkest times.

Update 9/11/2021
Thank you to everyone who has shared, contributed and continued to support Juliene and our family during these trying times. Since our last update Juliene has fought harder when faced with medical concerns. She had to undergo surgery to reroute her stomach, and while recuperating from this she contracted Covid 19. For Juliene this meant an elongated hospital stay, breathing treatments and difficulties managing her pain levels. For the family it meant fear and anxiousness while we sat on the sidelines unable to do anything other than offer love and support.  This page gives us hope that we can offer her comfort financially so she can focus her mind on more days with her daughter. Our appreciation can never be fully conveyed, and thank you will never seem adequate enough. Thank you, for sharing, for contributing, for praying, for everything.

Update 8/17/2021
Our family is beyond grateful for everyone who has shared the link, for those who offer support and love and for everyone who contributed monetarily. Unfortunately this cancer is aggressive and continues to take from my sister and her body. We ask that everyone continue to send good vibes, support and prayers.  And please, continue to share the link. Thank you, these words barely seem to be enough- but we truly mean them.

This is for my sister Juliene, her daughter Kayla, for our mother and father, and for our siblings. This is for everyone who has ever known, or who will ever know Jay. In November of 2020, amid a worldwide pandemic, a season of sadness, loneliness and despair my sister was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. As you can imagine my family was floored and terrified, but as the holiday season came, we found comfort and strength in each other. Jay started chemotherapy in January with a smile and bundles of positivity. She fought hard, as she has every hurdle life has thrown at her and was determined to beat this. Despite the joint pain, the nausea, the lack of appetite, fear, and despair, she finished her treatment- still smiling. After chemotherapy her doctors wanted her to receive radiation treatment to shrink the tumor to a size, they were comfortable removing. Again, Juliene fought, again with a smile. If you have had the pleasure of knowing my sister you know the beauty in her smile, its one of the most genuine things anyone has ever had to offer. It is typically reserved for truly fun, beautiful moments. Her daughter, who she loves more than anything shares this smile. On June 16 Juliene was scheduled for surgery, my dad called me around 9 and told me the doctors did not remove the tumor, they found the cancer spread to her liver. A few days later that week they found it in her blood and diagnosed her as stage 4. Our family is devastated, but we are still finding strength in each other. The hospital told her they would connect her to cancer centers in her area and others who were running clinical trials. She heard back from the cancer center, to talk to a doctor will cost about $600, and the treatment requires a down payment of $45k for palliative because they do not take her insurance.

For this reason, this page was created. It is hard for my family to ask for help, especially knowing everyone is going through something. And its mind blowing that when someone is facing this stage in their lives, in their medical care this is what we’ve come to. We are asking for any kind of help you can manage, and if it comes in simply sharing this, please know that is enough and we thank you profusely for it. Anything raised in this campaign will be used to pay off any past, current and future medical bills, and hopefully it will be enough to get her into the cancer center and give her the palliative treatment and dignity she deserves.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, for any well wishes and positive thoughts, and for anything you can contribute.
