Juliana, Former UCB Custodian
Donation protected
Juliana worked as a contracted out custodian at UC Berkeley for 6 years. When working at the UC, Juliana made 10/hr with no benefits, while a directly hired UC custodian makes at least 17/hr with full benefits.
This year Juliana and her co-workers launched the #Justice4UCWorkers Campaign to demand UC jobs, and an end to their second-class treatment.
However, when the manager found out that Juliana was one involved in the campaign, he fired her without warning and without considering that she has 5 kids all under the age of 12 whose well-being fully depends on her job. After losing her job, Juliana and her family had a hard time paying rent and were EVICTED from her house. Now they need a lot of support to make ends meet.
Juliana is continuing to fight in the Justice 4 UC workers Campaign, but is asking for support from her UC community so her and her family can pay for rent and food for the next month.
