Yesterday was my dads birthday. He never asks for much. Sometimes its SF Giants gear but most often its a super steak burrito and our company shared in the comfort of his home.
Three days ago, the Valley Fire swept through their neighborhood and burned the entire neighborhood including their house to the ground, leaving nothing much except a hanging carport and remains of a truck. We were unable to spend time with him on his birthday at their house. He did get to try and enjoy a super steak burrito, though.
So many people have been misplaced from this Valley Fire. It came and started so unexpedidly with only hours to escape. My parents had 45 minutes because they were so close to the Initial Attack of the fire. They grabbed their pets, a set of clothes and ran. With no time to fill up their truck with gas, they left it beind and took my moms car which had enough gas to get them to safety.
This was supposed to be their forever home. Both of my parents are disabled and were lucky enough to qualify for a home loan to buy this house just a year ago. The world was looking up. Now they are thrown back to square one except this time they no longer have mine and my two sisters' baby photos, my grandmas quilts that my mom has cherished for the last 29 years, or my dads set of hot wheel cars he liked to display on his hobby wall.
Please help my parents rebuild their lives. Anything helps. We arent asking for much, just enough to get them through the next few weeks and to try and salvage what little remains. Fund will be spent on housing costs, food, transportation, and pet care.
Thank you,
three heartbroken daughters
