Mr. Yu's Medical Expenses

Let us start by thanking our dear Father/Husband for being a strong man of character. He's always had such a big heart and was there to offer help to anyone who needed it. Mr. Yu is a man of simplistic character and has only wanted three things in his life.  Three things which provided the core foundation to our family and has contributed value to not only his immediate family, but to those who come across him.  Health, family, and being humble. These are the three things he spoke most often of.

As a business man and chef, Mr. Yu worked tirelessly and endlessly to make others happy. He found happiness in cooking and feeding families.  From within the kitchen to the dining room, his customers became friends who then became part of our family. Little did we know that he would become our hero.

It started with a slight fever, pain in his foot and lethargy. A visit to urgent care, led to the emergency room and from there to in-patient. What our family thought would have been a normal routine visit to the doctor, has ballooned into fear and sadness. It's been one week and drastically his health has fallen. From antibiotic shots, to fever medication, and other immediate needs the situation quickly has escalated to now two emergency surgeries (within the same week), and no clear understanding of what his outcome will be. He is being attended to around the clock by an amazing staff of nurses, doctors and specialists.

Mr. Yu is currently battling a severe case of Cellulitis derived from Streptococcus bacteria. Which if not treated in the early stages, can lead to a severe bacterial skin infection. Unfortunately this is the case and where we are at today.  We have just been notified that there is a possibility that if the condition does not get better, amputation may occur to prevent the spread of the infection to enter his bloodstream or his bones. His left foot is severely swollen, traumatized and he is currently in immense pain. He has lost so much weight and doesn't remember what it feels like to not be in pain. With his current state, ongoing treatment, and more surgery has him hospitalized until further findings from the Doctors.

The Chinese Restaurant ran by him and his wife (Our mother) is now in jeopardy and the expenses both medically and from the business are racking up. We will do everything we can as a family to fight for his health, but financially we are in a bind. We are raising money to help cover his medical expenses for now and to prepare for the future. With already two surgeries and no clear sight as to when he will be able to come home, we are preparing and praying for the best. His health and happiness are our main concern.

Mr. Yu has never once asked anything from anyone and always has extended a warm smile, a delicious meal, and has opened his heart and home to so many. He'd probably be mortified if he found out that we have decided to fund for his medical expenses as he's never wanted to burden. Truth is, we need the help and want to provide the best care so he can heal and live a life of happiness doing what he loves best.  Spreading love through his food, and bringing families together.

Our situation is urgent and the funds are an immediate need. He will need further surgeries, ongoing hospital care, in-home visits and treatment from nurses and we are praying that he will be able to battle this severe flesh eating condition and come home to us healthy and happy.  If within the next few days the condition worsens the decision for amputation will be a must to prevent the bacteria from spreading further (which would be life threatening). This will mean ongoing medical care, therapy, and other needs to help him regain life again. We really pray this isn't the case.

For now, your contribution will go directly to helping cover the very basics of his current medical expenses. Taking things day by day and one step at a time we will do what we can to continue to provide the best care possible for his healing. He will lose his restaurant and we'll have to close the doors to his legacy of amazing food, but it's his health that is much more important.
