01/3/2025 Mr. Wilder came to the Duncan Home For Wayward Cats as a 3 month old kitten with a severe prolapse.
We had him treated by a vet immediately, but in a short time he prolapsed again...
Finally, the vet performed an exploratory colonoscopy with a scope and discovered polyps in his colon. The polyps were removed and sent for analysis. A section of his intestine was also covered with ulcers. The updated diagnosis was ulcerative colitis pending the results of the polyp tests.
Sadly, Monday 09/30 the vet called to tell me that the polyp test result had been received and they were cancerous. That meant the ulcerations were almost certainly cancerous as well.
The vet said that the treatment in these circumstances is typically removal of all the colon exhibiting cancer symptoms and that is a complex surgery best performed by a specialist.
Wilder's vet bills already total thousands of dollars and one solution would be euthanization... except that I would never again have a peaceful night's sleep.
Sooooooo our vet has referred Wilder to a cancer specialist in Dallas, Texas. After that consultation, then we'll decide the next steps to take to help him live out his nine cat lives, but we can only do that with your generous contributions.
Mr. Wilder thanks you for your contribution of any amount to help him live.
