We’ve created this page on behalf of our 10-year-old son, Fionn, who wants to do something special to support someone who has made a big difference in his life — his wonderful tutor and former P5 teacher, Mr McPherson.

 

Many people in our community will know Mr McPherson and the extraordinary dedication he brings to helping children learn, grow in confidence, and believe in themselves. He has a rare gift for making learning fun, inspiring curiosity, and bringing energy and kindness to the children he works with. In addition James works as a part time firefighter in East Lothian. He has given so much to others — and now he needs our help.

 

Mr McPherson has been diagnosed with a stage 4 brain tumour (glioblastoma). He urgently needs access to specialist treatments that are not widely available in the UK. These treatments are costly, but they offer hope — hope for more time with his three children, his extended family, and the many people whose lives he has touched.

 

To play his part, Fionn will be running 2km every single day throughout March to help raise funds for Mr McPherson's treatment. He's determined to help his teacher in any way he can - and every donation no matter how small will keep him motivated and will be greatly appreciated.

 

Every pound raised will go directly towards helping Mr McPherson access the urgent treatment he needs and easing the immense pressure on him and his family during this difficult time.
