Mr. Maheu's Recovery Fund
Donation protected
Our beloved Mr. Maheu, also known as “Captain Maheu”, had emergency triple bypass surgery a little over a week ago. The surgery was a success. He is recovering well but, he will not be able to finish out the school year at Credo.
Mr. Maheu may be known best by the Credo community as our ninth-grade woodworking teacher. He is a passionate and skilled woodworker who applied his talents to his wooden sailboats and schooners, many of the cabinets and fixtures you find at Credo, as well as mentoring the next generation of craftspeople. Quite a few seniors have looked back fondly on those 9th-grade classes and asked Mr. Maheu to mentor them for their senior projects.
For the last nine years, Mr. Maheu has been the school’s facility manager. He was instrumental in our move from the school’s original location to our current spot in SOMO Village. He played a crucial, daily role, in ensuring smooth operations of the school, getting us settled into our new home even as major construction projects were underway.
Last but not least, Mr. Maheu is known as a beloved coach. His love of baseball is evident every spring when he dons his cap and helps coach the Gryphon Boys Baseball team.
No matter how you know Mr. Maheu, he is surely someone who believes deeply in what we are doing here, and who is committed to Credo’s success. On the ground, in the classroom, and on the field, Mr. Maheu’s care for students and our school is evident.
Typical recovery from this kind of surgery lasts months. Here at Credo, we are working together as a staff to donate paid time off to help extend his leave. But we would like to help him and his family by doing a little more.
Our goal is to raise $10,000 to help ease the financial burden this academic year.
If you can, please consider donating to support our dear Mr. Maheu!
