Mr Chicken’s Medical Bills

My name is Alex.. and where do I even begin? This is for my 11 year old cat Oliver.

I got Oliver when I was 19 and he was 6 weeks old. He’s the first kitten I got living out on my own. We’ve been through so much together, not the best relationships for me, and a big move across the country from Ohio to Arizona, and again recently from Arizona to Florida. He means the world to me and my two other cats, they both love him so much. He’s always been so healthy, and of course, as you can tell, a good eater haha. But recently, Oliver started dropping weight… just a year ago he hit his highest, 20lbs! I was stunned. But now he’s at the lowest he’s ever been in his adult life, just under 15lbs. I took him in for a routine vaccine and expressed my concern about the weight loss and him slowing down on eating, I was told to keep an eye on his weight and do my best to get him to eat. I watched his weight over a week and watched him struggle to eat and called them to make another appointment. He went in, he lost another .6 lbs. They did multiple tests on him, he had a fever, was anemic, and they expressed a little bit of concern about his pancreas. We did a blood test, x-rays, and then ended up deciding on an antibiotic shot that lasted two weeks, an appetite stimulate, and something for pain. I’m already at $900, and now they want to do a $220 “fever of unknown origin panel”, and I feel it needs to be done. I have no clue what the treatment will be or what other tests will need to be done. At this point he is also limping around, just seems very weak in general, and I have to coerce him into eating daily. I do not like asking for help, but no one is prepared for this kind of thing. Oliver is my world and I would do anything for him. Anything is appreciated. I just want to find out what’s wrong so I can help him. Thank you for reading.
