Mr. Candy’s Balloons Against Cancer is a fund that will ultimately help the Candy’s make smiles for children and people with Cancer around the world after helping pay for Mr. Candy’s mounting bills due to Cancer. Ade Brigham aka Mr. Candy and his wife Candy have lived their lives together making smiles and enjoying every minute full of laughter even through our darkest days with him in intensive care. They have donated time and works to twisting balloons and entertaining families for The Ronald Mc Donald House, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Hurricane Sandy and many women and family shelters over the years.
The Candy family and other balloon artist have been hit hard by cancer which made him want to help erase the pain with the joy of balloons. Mr Candy’s wish after his battle with Cancer is done is to travel the world with his wife Candy and their special brand of happiness.
Ade was diagnosed with stage 3c Colon Cancer and had to leave his job as a carpenter and balloon artist with little savings being told the surgery was a simple procedure to remove the tumor and he would be back at work 6 weeks later but due to complications during surgery which have left him unemployed and disabled not just at the moment but for the 2 next years, he is now being treated with chemo therapy and radiation this year with a permanent port attached to his chest following the Cancer treatment he will have ileostomy surgery next year to hopefully reverse and close the permanent wound in his stomach which is a long a difficult road. He has been living with Candy and making the most of life with her nursing him from home and getting out as much as possible to live life but struggling with mounting bills since he cannot be left for more than 4 hours at a time since his unplanned emergency ileostomy was placed in the wrong location which leaves him unable to care for it so Candy must always be near which makes working tough and rent and medical cost in New York for themselves, family and beautiful dogs, cats and birds are hitting us very hard. Asking for help is not in their nature because they are givers but this time they know without your help they are in deep trouble.
Both their dream is that he kick this evil disease and live the rest of their lives making those with Cancer smile so much the joy balloons bring helps destroy the monster by traveling to where ever children and adults need smiles and people who understand what they are going through.
Our hope is that we raise enough money to create something that will positively impact many lives for years to come and help us during this time. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for any help you can give.
