Mr. Buddy’s Health Crisis

11 years ago my son brought home an adorable puppy who my grandson named Buddy. Buddy is an eternal kid. Watching him do Pepe LePew leaps in the tall grass or froggie legs when he gets really excited is hilarious. He is so unique that recently he became big brother and protector to two Guinea Pigs, Gino and Gimli. “Pickles” is the newest member of our family. She was held captive by an abusive dog hoarder and Buddy is the only one she allows close. He is the neighborhood dog, most of the people in the neighborhood have treats at their house just for him. If their front doors are open he will go in and get comfortable. He has become friends with all of the neighborhood dogs on his walks also. Everyone loves him so much.

On April 11th Buddy had to be taken to the vet. He had not been feeling well for a couple of days and then his fever got really high. About 105.5 degrees. He was drinking large amounts of water and peeing everywhere and started going around in circles. Buddy has been so weak and not able to engage. His curled tale lost its curl. We feel helpless.  He’s had blood tests, ultrasounds, x-rays, MRI and a CSF tap. He has seen TEN doctors.  They finally found out it is either one of two types of meningitis. He has to take a lot of different medications and is still in the hospital after 13 days. All of the doctors and nurses love him so much, we all want to support him in his journey to coming home healthy and happy.
 
This illness has wiped us emotionally and financially.  We don't know how to pay the vet bills or the bills next month without some help.  Family has helped as much as they can.

Mr. Buddy is not just a pet, but an important member of our little clan and a great support in the rough times past and future. We wish everyone knew him like we do.
