Kia's Medical Fund
Donation protected
This is a fundraiser for Shakia "Kia" Woods operated by her close friends and family. Kia is a 2L law student at Vermont Law School. This year Kia has been unexpectedly diagnosed with Neuromyelitis optica (NMO) a rare autoimmune disease affecting the central nervous system. The money collected will be used ASAP to pay living expenses for the spring semester 2016 for which she must take a medical leave, and her past and future medical expenses.
The long-term goal of this fundraiser is to provide a medical trust fund for Kia that can cover her at least until she graduates law school. There is no cure for NMO, and the disease manifests in sporadic and debilitating episodes for which the triggers are unknown. We want to offer Kia protection from the unexpected and unpredictable financial burden that accompanies NMO.
This campaign means so much to us because Kia means so much to us. Kia is a bright, funny, magnanimous person. She is a determined, hard working student and colleague. She deserves to see her hard work come to fruition with a law degree. Law school is tough for all students; we cannot imagine it with the added burden of an incruable, painful disease.
Your donation will be appreciated beyond measure by Kia, her family and friends, and by anyone of the many people touched by Kia.
