About 3 Spice Dance
3 Spice Dance is a collective of dance artists who choreograph, perform, and produce original dance productions inspired by our shared experiences as Young Artists in Residence at Bearnstow, a historic dance center dedicated to nurturing the creativity of dancers through its inclusive pedagogy and 65 acres of protected Maine wilderness. We recontextualize our Bearnstow experience by utilizing process driven, historically conscious, and impulse focused methods of creating.
3 Spice Dance members and collaborators take on the roles of performers, choreographers, and producers. Our goal is to bring together members of our Bearnstow community and facilitate meaningful collaboration and idea sharing. Learn more at 3spicedance.weebly.com .
About Bearnstow Young Artist Residency Program
Designed for the emerging performing artist, the Young Artist Residency Program is a summer intensive of excellent dance and dance instruction. The program includes full participation in all workshop classes (8 weeklong workshops, 25 hours weekly), instruction and mentoring by an international staff of professional dancers and choreographers, and participation in weekly informal showings and a presentation of their own work in a formally mounted concert. In return, the residents assist in food preparation and camp facility maintenance throughout the summer. In addition to these duties, our young artist residents have designed programs and promotional material, conducted research, composed sound scores, choreographed their own works, created dance videos, and have gone on to perform together in other venues. About 3 Spice Presents (NYC)
On January 20, 2018 at Green Street Studios in Cambridge, MA, 3 Spice Dance presented the first of an ongoing series of performances featuring Bearnstow Young Artist alum. Performers for the 3 Spice Presents (Boston) show came from Massachusetts, Maine, New York, and Pennsylvania to showcase work that was incited by Bearnstow workshops and residencies. This show was well received to a packed and enthusiastic audience, and gave us the motivation to continue this show format in all of the cities where Bearnstow alum have placed their roots.
3 Spice Presents (NYC) marks the next leg of this journey. With a lineup of new and returning featured artists from far and near, this show will feature new works that span the disciplines of dance, theater, music, and film. While every artist involved has engaged with the Bearnstow community at different points in their careers, every work that is presented stems from the workshops and residencies that have been taking place at Bearnstow for over 70 years. We are so excited to continue to share the magic of Bearnstow with a new city!

Why We Need Your Support
While we have secured our venue at Triskelion Arts in Brooklyn and have built a network of performers, we need funds to support the artists who are largely volunteering their time right now to make this show possible! Your donation goes towards stipends for travel and performances, rehearsal space, promotional materials, and paying our support staff.
As working artists, we are putting together a fully produced show with limited funds and resources, so truly every dollar you commit will go a long way in making this show a success. 3 Spice Dance is committed to not only supporting the artists performing in and organizing this show, but to committing a large portion of our proceeds to Bearnstow to support future programming!
