Stage 4 Colon Cancer
Donation protected
Hi my name is Mike. I'm 50 yrs old. An Army veteran and a grandpa . I haven't been able to work since the last day of November, when I was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer that had already spread to my lung and liver. In December I went to the VA hospital in Sacramento and had a big surgery where they removed the large tumor, my appendix, and my whole R side of my large intestine. They didn't cut into the lung or liver for fear of spreading the cancer. Since January I've been going through the ole "kitchen sink" method. Meaning that it's bad enough that the oncologist said we're gonna throw everything at it, but the kitchen sink.
So I've been going to hospital every two weeks and get 4 or 5 different chemotherapy drugs administered, then another one that I have to wear the pump home for two days (that goes through a port in my chest), then go get it removed after two days. It is very harsh treatment and it made my hair and nails fall out, and caused a large number of my teeth to disintegrate. I would use any money I receive for dental work and possibly even dentures eventually.
That's also a lot of trips to and from the hospital and my car is in poor condition and needs mechanical repairs asap to be able to make all those trips and continue my chemotherapy treatments.
