As many of you know, Madison is the amazing owner of Revive Beauty Bar in Concord NH and a former graduate from Bow High School in 2016. Madison and her husband Alex welcomed their first baby boy Dawson into the world in November 30th, 2023.
Dawson was diagnosed with a Congenital Heart Disease called Tetralogy of Fallot at 20 weeks.
He has been followed by Dartmouth Hitchcock and Boston Children’s Hospital since his diagnosis. This diagnosis requires open heart surgery at a very young age.
When Dawson was born he spent a week in the NICU at Dartmouth. His predicted date for surgery was 4-6months old. Madison and Alex learned how to properly insert and take care of his NG tube that allowed him to feed and had a portable monitor to watch his vitals. This also meant telehealth appointments 3x a week and an in-clinic appointment 1x a week.
That was the only way we were able to be discharged from the NICU.
They got to be home for a few weeks and it was great. Shortly after being home they noticed Dawson was having a hard time gaining weight and started noticing he was frequently turning blue and oxygen levels started to become desaturated.
He was visibly struggling to breathe. They brought him in to the cardiologist for an echo and what they found was causing the symptoms they were seeing on the outside. So he was started on lasixs. The lasixs were not working as good as the cardiologist had hoped, they gave it a few days at a higher dose and still wasn’t enough.
On New Years Eve Dawsons head turned blue and he was struggling even more, they called her and she sent them to Boston Children’s ED. He was admitted immediately to the ACCU where they managed his symptoms for a few days and helped him gain 1lb prior to surgery. (1lb doesn’t seem like much but it was for Dawson!)
They did another echo and determined Dawson was in heart failure. He Had his surgery January 5, 2024. He has been in the NICU since 1/5/24.
He had severe unexpected bleeding during surgery and was kept on the ventilator a few extra days.
He is now on BiPap and is struggling to come off of that. He has so much fluid built up in his lungs currently. He is working very hard to breathe still.
Currently his team is doing everything they can, but also following what Dawson tells them he needs. Dawson is in the best place possible right now. Please consider donating. Anything helps. Medical bills is the last thing Madison and Alex should be worrying about right now. #dawsonstrong
